There are many many varieties of Sempervivums. According to some websites there is well over 3000 hybrids and 40 wild varieties.
There have been many super breeders of Sempervivums mostly in America, Germany, UK and the rest of Europe. There seems to be no bible when it comes to Sempervivums as the no of varieties is just to bast. It is sometimes impossible to tell the difference between different varieties and this causes confusion.
Below is 3 named varieties that probably look the same if someone didn’t tell you they were different. Worth pointing out that these plants are actually Jorvibas but are always called Sempervivum
Globiforum Toska
Light Green leaves with red tips that offsets readily.
Emerald Joy
Light Green leaves with red tips that offsets readily
Autumn Fire
Light green leaves with red tips that are ever slightly flowers readily.
Do you see what I mean? To me they all look the same!
So if you always want to name the variety of your plants is label your plants but don‘t lose any sleep if you can’t name them just enjoy the beauty of the plant.
I will look at mine tomorrow and see if I have one of these ! Tks.

Yup, all the same.
We had a different problem with one of our rhododendrons, which was two distinct cultivars with the same name. Ooops.
