Hello and welcome to this week mini blog about my gardening exploits during this strange time.

The weather has changed drastically this week and feels more like Autumn. The jet stream slipped from the Shetlands further South and has bought more cold unsettled rain. To say I was delighted would be an understatement and I spent a good 5 mins walking around the garden in the T-shirt and it was great. Not about the rain in this weeks six.

This weeks mini blog includes 3 roses.

1. Rose Roald Dahl

I bought 2 new David Austen roses last year and planted each in the big terracotta pots you get in Morrisons 2 for a tenner. It struggled the rest of last year with black spot. I removed all the damaged leaves last year then trimmed the plant in 2 stages a month apart this Spring. It is now producing a lot of flowers and new growth at the same time. The flowers are wonderful as you can see and remind me of peaches and cream and the smell is wonderful. It took a bit of bashing with the wind a couple of weeks ago and a lot of leaves have been damaged but thankfully none of the buds were damaged.

2. Rose The Mayflower

This is the 2nd Rose I got from David Austen last year. An old style rose that has dainty foliage. The flowers are well formed and reminds me of pink meringue (I have never seen pink Meringue but I take it you can get it). Being an old type rose this is a thorny little bleeder, literally. Unfortunately it has not got very many buds but I think if I am patient more will appear.

3. Rose Bridge of Sighs

I featured this in my SOS last week. Since then it has started flowering all over the place and it looks stunning. Tune in to this weeks six to see a picture of the whole plant on the arch.
