Hello and welcome to this weeks Six on Saturday.
This week is my 5th week back at work and the days of uncertainty of being furloughed seems so far away. Work has been really busy and gardening opportunities have been few and far between but at the moment beggars can’t be choosers I suppose.
This week has been relatively dry for a chance and the forecast seems positive. We did not have the high temperatures that the South have had but Friday was still pretty warm.
I am on call this weekend so this weeks blog will be short and sweet.
1. Sempervivum Grey Ghost
This is one of my most prettiest Sempervivums at the moment. It has wonder khaki green and grey as it’s main colours. I have had to put prop up some of the containers at one end to allow the rain to drain off the plants as some of them have gone rotten. I don’t usually prop up the containers this early but this just goes to show how much rain we had in July.
2. Aeonium Voodoo
Aeoniums go dormant in the summer and look a little bit Drab at the moment. However a great photo opportunity is never far away when you have Aeoniums. When autumn comes they will have another growth spurt and when winter comes I will have to protect them by putting them in a cold frame.
3. Geranium Bertie Crug
A smallish geranium which has both wonderful shiny almost reaching green leaves and bright pink flowers. I have moved this for a dry part of the garden into a terracotta pot and I have put it in a shadier place and it is doing really well. I am planning on putting it in a bigger pot next year.
4. Dahlia Clearview Daniel
Despite having Dahlia in the name of this website, I have never had much success. However I have moved most of my Dahlias from the south facing back garden which does not get that much continuous sun due to high hedges on not sides to pots on my North facing driveway which gets just as much sun and a drying wind. As you can see this one the new regime seems to be working. This one is one of the Clearview Dahlias which originate from America. It has been opening for a week but hopefully by the end of the weekend it will be open fully.
5. Rosularia Sedoides
I have this succulent in couple of places in the garden now and both plants are doing well. They are in pots and seem to be hardy for the conditions up her and stay out through the winter. They have the most exquisite small starry white flowers with a yolk yellow centre and red specs on the petals.
6. Aeonium Red Mohican
This is a new Alium I bought from Farmer Gracy and it seems to be a late flower. TBH I don’t know what to make of it as the flower is a tuft of what seems to tuft on a thin stalk. It looks a little bit like a matchstick. I planted them on a pot which seems to have been the right thing to do as if I had planted them in a border they would have got lost.

Sedums, Dahlias and Hayfever 
A cute geranium to remind me of mine which are at home while I’m here, far from them to water them .. 39° today there … luckily aeoniums and sempervivums don’t need to be watered often … yours are gorgeous

Exceptional heatwave for Normandy. Here in the south it is more common. Fortunately, there is the sea (& swimming pool ) to cool off

To the best of my memory it was named for “Bertie” who was a dog the Wynn-Jones had at Crug Farm. A pretty thing – the geranium.

That little geranium is a beauty with its shiny leaves and pink flowers. I didn’t know that aeoniums go dormant in the summer, I wondered why mine were a bit dreary at the moment. Do you feed yours?

No I don’t feed them I just let them do there stuff. However I might feed them on the future.

i get cheesed off with the constant war of attrition with the dahlias, but still i go back for more. just bought another three, in fact. idiot.

The Geranium is gorgeous both in flower and the leaves. I also like the Aeonium Voodoo! I love the colour of the dahlia flower; just as well it is taking its time to open as it means you can enjoy the colour for longer. The little succulent is also very interesting with its little white flowers.
