Good morning and welcome to this weeks six on Saturday.
It’s been a cloudy week but another dry week. Garden opportunities have been limited because I have started working on a big project at work. The garden is really starting to take shape. Today I will hopefully be moving my 10ft by 8ft garden shed 90 degrees. Thus freeing up space for a new bed North and East facing backing onto a tall garden fence. Going to start work on this bed in the autumn. I already have plants ready to plant in the bed, these include honeysuckle and 3 different colour Pyracantha. Thanks to The Propagator for bringing to my attention the cheap plants at Morrison these only cost £8.00.
Like most of you I am sure I have been watching the Chelsea flower show in awe. One of these years I will have to go down and visit there and Kew Gardens. In tribute to the Chelsea flower show I have given some of my tall Sedums a Chelsea chop.
First of all I thought I would post a photo of my herbaceous border and hedge. I am really proud of this and I am thinking of extending this next year.
Only joking had my lunch opposite this at the Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh.
Here is my six
1. Saxifraga X Geum Dixter form.
A plant that I bought in the winter and it is performing well. A relative to London Pride the flower stalks are tall and the flowers are pretty. I like the look of this variety and will transfer it into the main garden on the Autumn.
2. Geum Banana Daquari
I have a soft spot for Geums. Such easy plants to grow. This one is producing more flowers than it did last year. I love how the flowers are on top of stalks (aren’t most flowers are top of stalks) and how they dance in the wind.
3. Pelargonium Cherry Orchard
I bought 3 varieties of Pelargoniums from Fibres Nurseries in April and this is the first flower. The flower is an absolute bobby dazzler and if all the other flowers are as good as this I am going to be a happy chappy.
4. Erodium Guttatum (Storksbill)
A dainty low growing plant with beautiful white flower with lilac colouring. Looks like some one has walked past them with a leaking felt tip pen. Can also be used as an ink blob test.
5. Sempervivum thriving
I bought this unarmed Sempervivum last year and it didn’t grow to well last year and the Beast from the East nearly killed it off so this year I spot it and planted one in my dry trough and another 2 rosettes right up against a dry bit of garden next to a sleeper and all are growing fast and seem to be loving the new positions.
6. Allium Purple Sensation
Alliums are cracking plants. First year growing these but certainly won’t be my last. I have already ordered new varieties for next year.
No pictures of Sedums this week. Sorry Fred but for once other flowers are taking over.

Sedums, Dahlias and Hayfever 
A lovely six SDH, particularly the geum. A lot of people are posting about geums just now, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in a nursery locally. I agree about alliums. Mine are beginning to show their leaves, but it will be a while before they flower.

You will soon have sempervivum flowers I suppose because of the vertical growth.
Pretty geum! You have Banana Daquari and I have Tequila sunrise. So many drinks that give pretty flowers 😂😁
(otherwise I can wait a little for sedums … it’s true that I like them because of their cracking look)

I have Geum Mai Tai as well but that will not be flowering decently to next year….

I thought your whole aim in a bit of career tweaking was to get more time in the garden and here you are embarking on a new work project that denies you time in the garden. Hmmmm! Until now I’ve done fairly well at avoiding any and all mention of Chelsea. Nuff said. I’m zeroing on that Geum. It’s new to me but I like the name “banana”. As I look at it I can almost smell essence of banana. It goes on the list for next year (this year’s list being heavily oversubscribed now).

I have been looking after the toll system at St James Park stadium for 13 years and I am the sage, Sat Nav and the keeper of the system. Knew this was coming up and still wanted be a part of it. Main part of the project finishes a week on Thursday then that’ll be it for years.

I have a few Geums on my list next year. Especially Alabama Slammer…The Banana Daquri was looking sorry for itself and in the reduced bin last autumn. I love it when you bring them back to life….

Is geum common for you as well? When I wrote about it, I thought I had something to brag about; but it seems to be more popular than I had known.
